Vice-President's Message
Mr. Dwight Kelly
Chapter Vice-President
100 Black Men of North Metro, Inc.
Our theme this year goes back to basics. The theme
"Education on the Frontline: Returning to the Foundation of Our
Past" has as much significance today as it did 50 years
ago. Our children's future and our country's future depend on an
educated workforce and individuals who are highly skilled in the
fundamentals of reading, writing and arithmetic. Today's
technology demands that our youth have excellent reading skills, mathematical
skills and critical thinking skills.
Our chapter places a strong emphasis on academic excellence as well as
character development. We have partnered with tutors from
Morehouse College and the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority to help us
sharpen our mentee's ability to increase their scores on standardized
tests. We focus on developing excellent reading and communications skills. We are firm believers in the education
process. We know that a good education is a critical step for
our young men to develop and grow to become our future leaders. We have mentees in our mentoring program that attend school in 13 counties
surrounding greater Atlanta. Our chapter now supports well over
400 youth in our mentoring programs, elementary and high school
programs, and our one-on-one mentoring contacts. Our members are
committed to our mission to serve and "give back" to our
communities. We strive to inspire and encourage our youth to
become successful entrepreneurs, politicians, scientists, engineers,
husbands, and role models for other youth to emulate.
Your moral support and commitment are essential to our success.
We are all part of a team that has similar goals, aspirations, and
dreams. We need financial support in order to continue to grow
and improve our programs. Your financial support and the support
of corporate sponsors and private donors help us to achieve our goals
and expand our reach in the community!
We are proud of our youth and their accomplishments. Your
presence here today as well as your financial contributions and moral
support are greatly appreciated. On behalf of our chapter
members and our mentees, I sincerely thank you for your attendance and
financial backing of this important event. With your continued
support our youth can achieve their dreams and aspirations.
